In re Garcia oral argument receives significant press coverage

Yesterday’s high-profile oral argument in In re Garcia has garnered a good deal of media attention.  You will recall the case concerns whether an otherwise qualified undocumented immigrant should be admitted to the California Bar.  As this article from the Associated Press and this brief article from the Los Angeles Times indicate, Sergio Garcia faces an uphill battle.  At argument, the justices indicated their views that federal law bars states from issuing professional licenses to undocumented persons, and that the prohibition extends to law licenses.
