The Appellate Judges Education Institute (AJEI) is holding its tenth annual nationwide appellate Summit in San Diego this November. The summit is co-sponsored by the Appellate Judges Conference of the ABA and its constituent organizations, the Council of Appellate Lawyers and the Council of Appellate Staff Attorneys.
The AJEI Summit attracts excellent speakers on topics of interest to appellate practitioners. Particularly since the Summit is only rarely held in California, this is the one California appellate event this year that you definitely should not miss. Speakers will include several prominent state and federal appellate judges, including our own Chief Justice and Justice Goodwin Liu. Other notable confirmed speakers will include United States Solicitor General Donald B. Verrilli, Jr. and Dean Erwin Chemerinsky of the UC Irvine School of Law.
The Summit will be held at the Marriott Marquis in San Diego on November 14-17, 2013. In addition to the top-notch programs and accompanying CLE opportunities, there will be many social events, including breakfasts, lunches, cocktail mixers, a reception aboard the USS Midway, a Summit dinner and dine-arounds. These events will provide plentiful opportunities for mixing with appellate judges and lawyers from around the country. Each year, approximately 100 appellate judges, 100 appellate attorneys, and 75 appellate staff attorneys attend the Summit. (Full disclosure: Horvitz & Levy partner Brad Pauley is Secretary of the ABA’s Council of Appellate Lawyers.)
