“Amended bill would raise court reporter transcript fees by January”

Malcolm Maclachlan reports in the Daily Journal about the bill to raise reporter transcript fees and about opposition to the bill by two lawyers’ organizations.

Two nits about statements in the article:  (1) under the most recent version of the bill, the fee increase will take effect in July 2020, not January, and (2) the Supreme Court’s Jameson v. Desta opinion guarantees that court reporters, not transcripts, be available for indigent litigants.
