The Commission on Judicial Appointments just now unanimously confirmed Governor Jerry Brown’s appointment of Joshua Groban as a Supreme Court associate justice. His first conference will be on January 2 and he will hear his first oral arguments on January 8.
[Correction: Groban will not participate in the court’s January 2 conference. A California Courts news release reports that he will not be sworn in (by Governor Brown) until January 3.]
[Update: Video of the confirmation hearing is here.]
