Tomorrow morning, the Supreme Court will file its opinion in People v. Foster, which was argued on the late-May calendar. (Briefs here; oral argument video here.)
That leaves five more cases to file on two regular filing days before the end of the month. At least two of the five — the remaining undecided late-May cases — should file on Monday.
Foster raises the issue whether a commitment or recommitment as an mentally disordered offender must be vacated if the underlying offense supporting the initial commitment is redesignated as a misdemeanor under Proposition 47. The court granted review in June 2018.
The opinion can be viewed tomorrow starting at 10:00 a.m.
