The deadline recently passed for Governor Gavin Newsom to act on the last of the bills passed by the Legislature this year. So, now is a good time to check the status of legislation we’ve written about before.
The Governor signed these bills:
- SB 145 — eliminates mandatory sex offender registration for some offenses. (See here.)
- AB 3070 — provides procedure aimed at stopping racial discrimination in jury selection. (See here and here.)
- AB 3366 — gives the Chief Justice broader emergency powers. (See here, here, here, and here.)
- AB 2723 — allows a party’s attorney to sign a settlement agreement that can be enforced in court. (The bill is similar to SB 1105 (see here), which did not pass.)
- AB 1512 — modifies rest-break rules for certain private security officers. (See here.)
The Legislature did not pass these bills:
- SB 1105 — see AB 2723 above.
- SB 991 — would have raised rates for reporter’s transcripts. (See here.)
